Companies find great employees through the Solider for Life Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

TAP is the Army's program to assist separating and retiring military service members and their families with transition guidance, planning, training and support in preparation
for their transition back into the civilian workforce.

Foot Hood has the highest transition tempo in the Army and within the Top 3 in
the entire Department of Defense.  Fort Hood transitioned an average of  755 active
duty per month for a total of 9,063 in 2016.

Agenda:

8:30 a.m. Arrive at shopping center for carpooling on base (specific directions will be given to RSVP's)

9:00 - 11:15 a.m. ARMY 101 for Employers (A comprehensive overview of Solider transition perspectives, work ethic, transferable skills, hiring strategies for HR Managers and Veteran hiring nuances).

11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Lunch with Solider's.   Attendees need to bring $5.55 cash to cover lunch.

1:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.  Career Skills Program - Overview and Field Opps

3:00 p.m. - Depart

Beyond Now – Helping you to elevate your career.

Thinking about what’s next for you and your HR career?

Based on member feedback, we are excited to introduce our “Beyond Now” program designed to allow AHRMA members to elevate your HR careers through both active and passive job search techniques and strategies.

The program will offer weekly meetings focused on:

·         development of job search skills and abilities

·         resume and cover letter review

·         use of LinkedIn and other job search tools

·         interview practice and tips

·         brand management

·          networking

·         encouragement and insights. 

If you are passionate about helping others land the right job, and elevate their HR career, we are also seeking volunteers to join the committee and/or to lead meetings.

ARHMA MENTORING PROGRAM IN GREAT DEMAND! 

 

“Getting a Mentor is the key to success” ~ Bo Sanchez

 

AHRMA launched its Mentoring program in March of 2015: It’s called “Just-In-Time Mentoring” and it has changed the face of mentoring.  This program provides Mentors with the opportunity to give back and share their expertise with the next generation of HR leaders.  Mentors will also gain experience in coaching and professional development.  Mentees have the opportunity to learn from senior HR professionals to enhance their professional skillset. 

What is unique about this program is that it is customized to the needs of the individual.  The parameters of the mentoring partnership are established by the mentor/mentee team - each team decides how often they would like to meet and what their time will be focused on.  Some meetings are by phone and some are by face to face.

The program is separated into 2 phases per year, Fall and Spring, and each phase lasts 4 months.   The topics discussed will motivate, educate, navigate, and transfer experience - all for the purpose of getting results!

We just are wrapping up 2016 Fall Phase and we have 50+ Mentors and Mentees working together to help grow professionally.  The results in previous phases have been great, and multiple people are signing up again, both as Mentees and Mentors.  The value they are receiving is making a huge difference in their careers and helping them to meet their professional goals.

We are recruiting mentors and mentees for 2017 Spring Phase kicking off at the end of March.     Go to the AHRMA website and find out more about this amazing program.    If you want to participate in 2017 Spring Phase, please complete the form on the website by March 1st.
