AHRMA provides a free Mentor / Mentee program to all current members.
The AHRMA Mentoring program was launched in March of 2015, and provides a unique opportunity for experienced HR Leaders to develop others, and less experienced HR professionals the opportunity to learn and grow in their HR journey. To date more than a hundred Austin area AHRMA members have benefited from this program with amazing results!
Benefits of the program:
Program Details:
The program is separated into 2 phases per year, Fall and Spring, and each phase lasts 4 months. Topics covered by Mentors/Mentee pairs will motivate, educate, navigate, and transfer experience - all for the purpose of achieving their goals!
Our program is less formal than most mentoring programs; rather than a rigid and defined program, our focus is on knowledge-sharing within a network of individuals who have a wealth of experience in the Human Resources field. This casual approach allows the Mentor and Mentee the ability to customize their own program and work towards goals they themselves have established. Each team is given the freedom to decide how often they would like to meet, where, when, and what their time will be focused on - it could be meeting over lunch or even a phone call! Each Mentor / Mentee pair is carefully selected by the Mentor Committee to provide the best quality and outcomes.
This program is NOT - a free consultant services, a job search service, or an ongoing dependent relationship.

AHRMA offers a preparation course for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) Certification test.
Our preparation course is designed for individuals seeking credentials and is focused on identifying and testing the knowledge and real-life experiences HR professionals need to excel in their careers today.
The course covers four key knowledge domains: People, Organization, Workplace and Strategy, as well as eight behavioral competencies: Leadership and Navigation, Ethical Practice, Business Acumen, Relationship Management, Consultation,
Critical Evaluation, Global and Cultural Effectiveness, and Communication.
Built on one singular Body of Competency and Knowledge (SHRM BoCK™), the certifications are designed to elevate the HR profession around the world. They test the HR professional’s competency—the ability to put that knowledge to work through critical thinking and application—and demonstrate that the HR professional is a technical expert and has mastered the application of HR technical and behavioral competencies, through practice and experience, to drive business results. For more information on the new credentials, visit www.SHRMCertification.org.
Students must purchase the SHRM Learning System as it contains multiple resources that will be instrumental in your success on the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam including pre/post tests, flashcards, Smart Study Guide, as well as learning module books (also available as downloadable e-reader files).
