Retirement Plan Sr. Specialist

Basic Function:

We're looking for a detail-oriented individual who will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administration of the THA 50+ Retirement Plans with over $1 billion in assets in 3 trust accounts. This role will be responsible for processing pension payments, managing benefit distributions, reconciling trust accounts, and providing exceptional support to plan participants.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately review and complete required retirement plan payment request forms prepared by third-party for all participants terminating employment, retiring, deceased, disabled and in-service withdrawals for the participating hospitals in the THA Retirement Plan system.
  • Resolve participant inquiries and support pension annuitants.
  • Collaborate with the Retirement Plan Manager, third-party administrators, and VP to ensure timely and accurate completion of work.
  • Provide direct support to plan sponsors, including hospital payroll and HR staff by assisting with questions about the plan.
  • Input and track plan contributions and expenses using QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile trust account statements monthly.
  • Attend quarterly board meetings and prepare minutes for approval.
  • Assist with annual plan audits by preparing and coordinating required information.
  • Research and recover overpaid funds related to outstanding checks and participant records.
  • Review and edit plan communication materials.
  • Prepare and process various plan-related expenses such as legal and consulting.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance or Human Resources degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of retirement plan regulations. Including ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations.
  • Two-five years’ work experience in fast paced office environment. Must be highly organized, resourceful and have a strong attention to detail.

  • Strong Critical thinking skills
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, self-manage, and meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and solve problems.
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel Skills required.
  • QuickBooks skills preferred.
  • Position involves hybrid in-person and work-from-home work model.

Compensation: up to $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
